My artwork is a mandala creation. It is made with concentric circles, which depict that the prayers we put out into the universe are thrown back at us in abundance.
My mandala art shows a transition, which has been faced by everyone during this tough time.
Ever since Covid hit us, many people lost their lives, almost everyone faced financial crunch, emotional and mental health has been compromised leading to psychological problems/breakdowns.
Yet, we know that there are two sides to every coin.
This scenario had a positive side too, which I’ve tried to portray through my art.
The mandala shows a positive transition that our environment and we, human beings, especially the young ones have gone through.
The usage of black and white on the left side shows the scenario before Covid. The rightside, which has been made using all the healing colors – the rainbow colors – depicts how
we have healed.
Earlier the environment was too polluted, disturbed and abused. Be it noise pollution, garbage,
air pollution, water pollution and what not. But with people restrained at home, due to lockdown
in the country, the environment is healing. We have fresh air to breathe, good food, good soil, lesser garbage , cleaner roads and above all, non polluted – beautiful sky. Not just human, but
many birds and animals have been seen enjoying their habitat. The flowers in my art depict this.
The left black and white side portrays the dullness of the environment shown using white flowers. And the right, coloured part shows invigoration and how fresh it has become.
The orange colour used particularly signifies vitality with endurance.
Similarly, I’ve also tried to show how youngsters have treated their mental health in a positive way during this lockdown.
We all know, today’s generation faces a lot of mental health issues, lack of self love, trust issues, no family time, maybe because of work pressure, peer pressure, the pressure to succeed sooner than others. But during the lockdown, they got to spend time with their families and found out positive ways to live, practiced meditation, listened to good music, ate healthy home-made food, followed their passions, all while looking forward to their inspirations. This helped them to treat their mental health issues effectively. Everyone got time to think about themselves and work on themselves, some tried to work on their physical health by exercising, yoga, meditation, dance while others tried to improve their emotional health by practicing their hobbies and passion.
This is depicted in the reels. The left, black and white reel depicts – depression, no self-love , looking for someone to give happiness and the fake smile masks they were wearing. The right, coloured reel depicts – nature love, happiness, self- love, self -belief and a heart full of happiness. This is shown in green colour, which depicts balance and harmony in essence and possesses a soothing influence upon both mind and body.
The background in my art – depicts the worst to good transition. Black and white shows sadness while green colour part shows how we’ve healed through that.
The centre of my painting is a strong message for all – we need to stop thinking negative and start thinking positive about everything that is happening.
Though, we know coronavirus is still spreading, all we can do is take precautions, wear protective masks, and do our bit.
As we know, “precaution is better than cure”.
ALSO, THE WHOLE MANDALA PATTERN HAS A SPECIFIC MEANING AND THOUGHT,
THAT ONE SHOULD THINK POSITIVE, THINK THAT WE’VE BEEN THROUGH THIS, THIS
HAS ENDED WELL AND EVERYONE IS FINE.
I’VE KEPT THIS THOUGHT WHILE MAKING THIS ART. AND AS I’VE SAID THESE
CONCENTRIC CIRCLES GET BACK TO US OUR THOUGHTS IN ABUNDANCE, SO WHY NOT THROW POSITIVE VIBES ONLY.
Above mentioned was my thought and my belief. I do not have any intention to hurt someone’s feeling. I know that there are many ill—effects of covid. The environment and the human beings have faced problems too. But this is just a small attempt to throw a light on the positive
outcomes. The coronavirus situation has caused a massive cleanse in both our lives and spirits and this has caused us to wipe out and reassess what cluttered our life.
Creativity has helped me grow, and has kept me sane during this difficult period. It has brought positive changes in my life and me. I surely believe, creativity did unite and has played an important part to sustain these covid times.
Stay home, Stay safe.
